    Open role: Founding Engineer

    CareerLark is looking for an experienced engineer to join our founding team and own significant parts of our technology development. As a chatbot startup, we are on the forefront of applying AI and NLP to enterprise tasks and our customers include Fortune 500s. We are currently funded by Betaworks Ventures and People Ops leaders from Facebook, Pinterest, and Hubspot, and are a SAP.iO (SAP’s innovation arm) Foundry company. Founders’ backgrounds include Stanford and Princeton engineering, Google HR and data science, Amazon and Twilio product.


    This position is full-time and based on-site in San Francisco.


    Kinds of things you would do in a typical week:

    • Write code. Ship code. Rinse and repeat.

    • Give technical perspective in company strategy decisions and product development

    • Collaborate cross-functionally on technical solutions that take business and product requirements into account

    • Work with offshore contractors to build out new modules on top of our chatbot engine

    • Collaborate with other engineers on our team to complete product sprints

    • Proactively identify future problem areas and solve for them

    Critical skills for this role:

    • You are strongly competent in writing and shipping enterprise-quality code

    • You like rolling up your sleeves and coding, and want to start coding right away

    • You possess strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval

    • You have strong backend experience

    • You are excited to build a team from grounds up and comfortable working with offshore contractors

    • You are a great communicator and thrive in collaborating closely on a small cross-functional team

    • You are an entrepreneurial self-starter that others enjoy working with due to your technical abilities, positive can-do attitude, and passion for clean and maintainable code

    Bonus points:

    • You've implemented AI systems, specifically involving NLP and ML

    • You’ve developed enterprise SaaS software

    • You've worked in a startup environment

    • You have experience with Scala and/or PostgreSQL
